How to repot
your plants from a 6 incher |
|
 |
Well, it's
finally time to repot my California Orange/Hawaiian Indica's, which are
18+ inches tall, and growing in a six-inch plastic flowerpot. The plants
have been only five weeks growing from seed to this height, and I've
already killed the males and collected some early pollen- a real bonus!
Before you
start, Fill the new pots a third full of fresh moist soil mix of the
same type as the one you are presently using in the 6" pots. |
|
Over we go
with the plant, hanging the leaves down underneath, and gripping the
bottom of the pot with your left hand, give it a slight twist, and
carefully lift it away from the root-ball.
The pot
will ideally slip off easily, leaving you with the plant and root-ball
in your hand, and ready to place in the prepared pot. At this time, you
can inspect the roots, and see how well they are developed. |

The roots in
the pot are filling it up nicely, but but really "spinning out" around
the outside of the pot yet.
Return the
plant to it's upright position, and shake off the dirt on the underside
of the leaves.
Make
sure the plant is standing straight, and well centered in the pot, and
fill in from the sides with new soil. |
|
Move the
root-ball into a 1 or 2 gallon pot, and press down the soil to compact
it as you go, You don't want the soil to be too loose.
The plant
can be buried an inch deeper that before, this will induce a new flush
of roots from the lower stem, which is naturally beneficial to the
uptake of nutrients. |

Make sure you
oxy-water the plant well right away, so that the plant won't be bothered
by repotting-shock, and will likely just keep on growin'!
Wait at
least a week to ensure the plant is over any planting shock before you
fertillize with a high N solution like 20/10/10 to get them moving.
