Determine the sex of your plants prior to flowering!

Alrighty, then. You've faithfully grown your plants in all the manners prescribed by those you you hope are in the know, and for better or worse the plants are doing fine and are now 12" to 18" tall. Still one question weighs heavily on your mind. "How do you tell which is which?" Here is a technique which should help you make a determination without disturbing your entire operation.

Apply a number or name to each plant so you can keep track of the clones parent. When you take the cuttings, label each with the right number, and place them in oxygenated water from your reservoir. If you have a 12/12 flowering chamber with plants in it, put them in with the other plants, but put them on the floor where it's likely to be cooler.

After a few days in the chamber under 12/12, the hormones in the cutting will begin to change, and after about a week or maybe a bit more, it will begin to flower, displaying the sexual characteristics of the parent plant without disturbing its vegetative cycle.

At that point you can decide whether to kill the males or keep them for the purposes of breeding for seeds.
